The "lovely" asbestos shed that Rentachook currently operates out of has been sold and will be residential units this time next year. We are due to move out sometime in the next 3 months or so.
I am currently looking for something close by (Ryde, West Ryde, Meadowbank) and when I find something, I will post the new location on the website with as much notice as I can give.
In the meantime, we are reducing the shop open hours to Friday (11am to 5pm and Saturday (11am to 2pm) and will be closed on Thursday. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. For existing feed customers, special arrangements can be made for feed collection outside these hours.
Occasionally I am hard to get hold of, and unable to respond to phone calls or answer emails for a few days. I know this sounds unprofessional, but I have a day job Monday to Wednesday working as an environmental consultant/adviser and started Rentachook as a hobby. Please do not call me on Mon to Wed unless it is urgent, even then I'm likely to take a number and call you back. Sorry, but it is the reality of having two jobs.
I also have three small boys (my Bubbas - Hamish 6yo, Alexander (XuXu) 5yo and Edward (Ted Bear) 4yo (as at December 2011)) Yes, it was 3 boys in 3 years! I love the Bubbas dearly and they can be demanding of my time.
Mostly, we can fill coop orders the week they are placed, but at some times (especially after Rentachook has been in the media) that there can be a delay. That being said, a herculean effort is made to supply chooks for birthday and special occasions orders, even at late notice. Ask, and I’ll soon tell you if it can be done.
Because I work at my day job in the city on Monday to Wednesday, Rentachook is closed on these days. This leaves Thursday and Friday as the best days to call me.
The workshop is open from 11am to 5:00pm on Friday (although sometimes I get in a bit late and/or have to go out on a delivery) and Saturday we are open from 11am to 2pm.
Please Note: Sunday is Family Day in the Ingham household and please do not call on a Sunday. Working 6 days a week on two jobs, you will understand that Sunday is downtime.
We mostly do deliveries of coops and chooks on Thursdays and some evenings etc. There are times when there can be a delay in getting deliveries done. So, if you have access to a suitable vehicle, please save time and money by picking up from us in Ryde. For coop orders, if you cannot make it during the workshop hours, there are times when I can meet you down there.
Please try to use the shopping cart, it is technology and it occasionally chucks a wobbly. If it doesn’t work for you, email or call.
Please have a look at the What To Expect page and the FAQ’s first, as I’ve put a lot of effort into describing what to expect from keeping chooks.
Please complete the contact-us form at the top right of this page or email chooks@rentachook.com.au. Please include a contact number with all emails as I often call back rather than type (one finger at a time). I'm afraid at times when Rentachook is busy there can be a delay in me replying to emails and contact-us forms as email is not my strongest point. If your inquiry is urgent please email me at chooks@rentachook.com.au and put the word urgent in the title.
0409 CHOOK1 (0409 246 651) Thursday, Friday or Saturday.
The business is located at a workshop in Ryde at Unit 6 / 2-4 Porter Street Ryde.
The workshop is a poorly signposted (sorry), little industrial unit, the first set of units up from the construction site on the western side of the road. The unit block is called Hayes Industrial Units.
We accept cash, cheque, direct deposit (by arrangement and now EFTPOS/Credit Card. However, the bank charges us so much for the service we have to add a 1% surcharge to any payment made by card because of greedy banks (don't get me started on this subject).
Don't be dismayed if I’m hard to track down, I'll happily answer any chook question you may have. Also, if I seem a little disorganised, that's because I am!
